BIO · 04 · TWO PARAGRAPHS

Jakub Górnicki operates at the intersection of journalism and art. He pioneers Artistic Journalism - a movement dedicated to transforming rigorous reportage into immersive, physical experiences. In an era of AI-generated content and endless metric optimization, he argues that the most powerful thing journalism can do is remain deeply human, visceral, and impossible to automate. Previously, as COO of the ePaństwo Foundation, he developed it into a leading open-data NGO globally, launching Code for Poland and the Personal Democracy Forum in CEE.

BIO · 05 · LONG

Jakub Górnicki is a reporter and artist working at the intersection of journalism and live experience. Dedicated to building an antidote to shallow media, he designs immersive stories and physical spaces where audiences connect with global issues. He pioneers Artistic Journalism: the conviction that in an era of AI-generated content and endless metric optimization, the most powerful thing journalism can do is remain deeply human, visceral, and impossible to automate. His research on media branding - including a review of 4,000 news marketing campaigns from INMA's archives - examines how journalism has repeatedly redefined its social role across print, broadcast, digital, and AI eras. He is the co-founder of Outriders, an award-winning non-profit bridging journalism and art, and the creator of Reakcja, which brings journalism live onto the stage. His previous physical spaces include Outriders Klub in Warsaw and Prologue / Istoriya in Lviv. His work has been recognized with the Paszport Polityki (Digital Culture, 2022), INMA Global Media Awards, the Polsko-Niemiecka Nagroda Dziennikarska (2021), the Hostwriter Pitch Prize (2017), and a nomination for the European Press Prize. Previously, as COO of the ePaństwo Foundation, he launched Code for Poland, the Personal Democracy Forum in CEE, and TransparenCEE - initiatives that helped cities and governments adopt open-data policies across Central and Eastern Europe. He is based in Warsaw, Poland.
