What happened

On 10 October 2026, railway bridge infrastructure in Delfshaven was deliberately set on fire. ProRail recorded a failure at about 02:30; its contractor found smouldering cables and a cut-open technical-room door. Police report finding the fire shortly before 04:00. These are different stages, not an established time of arson. Thirty-five cables were damaged; according to NOS, 15 burned through completely. Police confirm no injuries. Trains between Rotterdam Centraal and Delft Campus were suspended. The earlier forecast put resumption no earlier than 23:00 on 11 October, possibly delayed until the morning of 12 October.
