On the evening of 25 August a team from Naval Base Varna was ordered to examine an object spotted in the water off the Kamchia resort. The servicemen found it to be the wing of a military unmanned aircraft washed out of the sea, without munitions and posing no danger, and took it to the base. It was one of four finds that night on the Bulgarian coast, alongside Pasha Dere, Pomorie and Kabakum beach, covered in a single defence ministry statement of 26 August. The defence minister said of the series that the drones were mainly Russian and unarmed, without saying which object was which; the type of the wing and the operator have not been established.

Minister obrony Bułgarii Dimityr Stojanow / 2026-08-26 / origin of the equipment
Speaking about the series of finds on 25-26 August, the defence minister said the drones found were mainly Russian Gerbera decoys and Orlan reconnaissance drones, alongside Ukrainian parts and unidentifiable wreckage, and that none carried weapons. He did not say which object was which. That is an assessment of the origin of equipment carried in by currents, not a finding about who flew it or who tasked the flight.
