Late in the evening of 22 August 2026 the anti-crime unit of the Office for Combating Organised Crime (ÚBOK), acting on information from Slovakia's SIS and military intelligence received in July, foiled a planned arson attack on the drone plant of the Ukrainian company Skyeton at Haniska near Prešov. No fire was set; police seized a large quantity of an incendiary mixture of petrol and polystyrene (a form of napalm), tools, phones, an action camera and a hand-drawn plan of the plant. About 70 people work in the hall in continuous shifts. Three foreign nationals (Latvian and Ukrainian citizens) were charged with preparing an especially serious crime of public endangerment "on commission"; the Prešov court remanded two on 27 August, the third was detained in Germany on a European arrest warrant, and a fourth person was detained in Košice on 28 August. Police president Jana Maškarová said on 28 August that police had for now no evidence that Russia was behind the preparation, and that the authenticity of a claim by a group calling itself "Global Citizens Against War 1984" was being checked. That police statement did not identify who commissioned the attack. Malcontent's pin (48.62, 21.25) marks a different Haniska, near Košice. Reports of a FAZ article of 25 September raised suspicion of a link to the GRU and the group suspected of the Munich arson. This is a journalistic finding, not a newly reviewed ruling by Slovak police. The earlier police position of 28 August is retained as a historical statement; the intervention date remains 22 August. On 15 October 2026, a Latvian national previously detained in Germany was handed over to Slovakia under a European Arrest Warrant. On 16 October, the Prešov court remanded him because of the risk of flight and continued criminal activity; according to its spokesperson, the decision is not final and can be appealed. This is a further stage of the case foiled on 22 August, not a new attack, verdict or new finding of Russian commissioning. The fourth detainee recalled in the reports is the known August arrest, not an additional October arrest.
