RAF Molesworth: intrusion and two arrests
/ period
What happened
During the night of 7-8 October 2026, two men were found inside RAF Molesworth and a breach in its fence was identified. At about 22:00 on 7 October a patrol found an abandoned vehicle; arrests followed early on 8 October. The precise entry time is unknown. Two UK-resident Latvian nationals aged 32 and 36 were initially arrested in connection with trespass and criminal damage, then on suspicion of a Section 4 National Security Act offence. Two addresses near Peterborough were searched; on 9 October the suspects were released on bail with strict conditions. Investigators continue to examine the motive, including possible ordinary criminal activity. Espionage, Russian tasking and a connection to the war are not established; nationality is not attribution. Police found no link to the earlier RAF Fairford case. This conditionally included entry concerns the intrusion and fence damage, not an established attack plot. Exact coordinates have not been established; the entry has no map point.
