What happened
On the morning of 26 August 2026 tourists spotted a drone fragment in the waves off Olimp beach, in front of the Steaua de Mare resort, and alerted the authorities. Police cordoned off an area of about 500 m and closed the beach; IGSU sent an RO-Alert asking people to keep their distance, noting that the operation posed no danger to the public. Sappers established that the fragment carried an explosive charge and detonated it in a pit dug on the beach, among the sunbeds and parasols. Nobody was hurt. The authorities did not say where the drone came from.
