Between the evening of 25 August and midday on 26 August servicemen from Naval Base Varna examined an unmanned aircraft found in Black Sea waters off Pasha Dere, south of Varna, and detonated it at sea. The defence ministry statement of 26 August gives neither the type nor the reason for the detonation; defence minister Dimitar Stoyanov spoke that day of remains at Pasha Dere and said none of the drones found carried weapons. It was one of four finds that night, alongside Kamchia, Pomorie and Kabakum beach. The operator and the flight date have not been established.

Minister obrony Bułgarii Dimityr Stojanow / 2026-08-26 / origin of the equipment
Speaking about the series of finds on 25-26 August, the defence minister said the drones found were mainly Russian Gerbera decoys and Orlan reconnaissance drones, alongside Ukrainian parts and unidentifiable wreckage, and that none carried weapons. He did not say which object was which. That is an assessment of the origin of equipment carried in by currents, not a finding about who flew it or who tasked the flight.
