airspace incident: Field near Tarnawa-Kolonia, eastern Poland (2026-07-30)
/ date of the event
What happened
During a Russian attack on Lviv a missile was detected near the border and turned back; then, at about 03:46, radar detected another missile in Polish airspace. F-16s were scrambled, but the missile disappeared from radar, flew 92 km and exploded in a field near Tarnawa-Kolonia. Identification was complicated by the presence of Ukrainian MiG-29s with similar radar signatures; sirens sounded in Lublin, Krasnystaw and across the voivodeship. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said debris scattered over a 200 m radius allowed the missile to be identified as a Kh-101.
