What happened
On Sunday 19 July walkers noticed a broken-up object on the shore between Karaburun beach in Arnavutköy and Ormanlı beach in Çatalca and alerted the authorities. Teams of the Coast Guard Marmara and Straits Regional Command and the Underwater Defence Group (SAS) arrived; SAS commandos assessed it as the wreckage of a kamikaze-type strike drone, found explosive material on it and destroyed it in a controlled detonation. That is how the DHA and IHA agencies reported it; no official statement by the Coast Guard or the governorate was found. The type, origin and operator of the aircraft were not given.
