On 5 June 2026 at 10:27, a Ukrainian maritime drone exploded at berth 78 in Constanța port. Three further explosions at sea were confirmed at 11:05; that is the confirmation time, not an established time for all detonations. According to a presidential administration response dated 17 August and published by PRO TV on 28 September, Ukrainian forces had lost four drones and an automatic self-destruction mechanism caused the blast. The area around the drone was evacuated beforehand. The administration reported no casualties or significant damage. Its preliminary assessment supports the hypothesis that Russia took control; the investigation and technical findings remain incomplete. This is not final attribution. Ukrainian origin does not establish who controlled the device at the time.
