Poland: cyberattack on energy infrastructure

/ date of the event

What happened

Remote terminal units, network equipment and the communications linking distributed generation sites to control centres were compromised: wind farms, solar installations and combined heat and power plants. No loss of supply followed; the prime minister said the attack had been thwarted and the system was never at risk. This was not a nationwide blackout. The event has no single point on the map because it touched multiple sites whose full list the source does not give.

Responsibility and limits of the evidence

suspected

Someone has named a perpetrator, but this is neither a court finding nor a formal attribution by a state.

Named party: ELECTRUM

D - documented journalistic investigation

Dragos / 2026-01-28 / carrying out the act

The analytics firm Dragos writes that it "can confirm with moderate confidence that the threat group ELECTRUM is responsible". That is a technical assessment by a private company with a stated confidence level, not an official state attribution. Dragos names a group, not a state; ELECTRUM's links to any state apparatus are not established here.
