What happened
On the night of 29 September fishermen working off Çarşıbaşı pulled a foreign object out of their nets, towed it to Yoroz harbour and notified the Coast Guard. The Trabzon governorate said it was an uncrewed surface vessel of foreign origin, secured for examination by Navy diver teams and the gendarmerie; the harbour was closed. On 1 October the vessel was towed out to sea and destroyed in a controlled detonation; according to the governor there were no casualties and no environmental damage. The governorate named neither the country of origin nor the operator; media described a Ukrainian strike craft that had drifted across the Black Sea.
