What happened
On the night of 9/10 September multiple Russian drones entered Polish airspace. Polish, Dutch, Italian and American aircraft operated in the airspace and air defence and radar systems were placed on high alert. At least 21 drones were recorded over Poland and up to four were shot down. Warsaw Chopin, Warsaw Modlin, Rzeszów and Lublin airports were temporarily closed because of 'unplanned military activity'. Poland invoked Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
