On the night of 8 to 9 September 2025 pig heads were left outside nine mosques and cultural centres in and around Paris, and found on the morning of 9 September. Per documents described by OCCRP the operatives flew into Paris on 7 September, carried out reconnaissance on 8 September and left the country after delivering the heads. One coordinated set of drops, not nine independent operations. In December 2025 the Higher Court in Smederevo convicted three Serbian nationals; the written verdicts point to orders and money from structures of Russian intelligence.

On 22 and 24 December 2025 the Higher Court in Smederevo convicted three Serbian nationals of espionage, inciting racial discrimination and criminal association. The written verdicts say the group received orders, instructions and money from "structures of the intelligence service of the Russian Federation", without naming which service or which officials. The acts covered are the severed pig heads left at nine mosques in and around Paris in September 2025 and green paint thrown at Paris synagogues and the Mémorial de la Shoah in May 2025. The sentences: 18 months in prison, one year of house arrest and six months of house arrest. The verdicts followed plea agreements and were not appealed, so they are final. The alleged organiser is beyond the court's reach.

Journalists described leaked documents pointing to the Social Design Agency, a Russian firm sanctioned by the US, the UK and the EU, and to a role for the Russian presidential administration. This is a journalistic finding, separate from the verdict: the Serbian court did not name that company. No charges have been brought in France.
