object found: two impact sites near the Ukrainian border: about 5 km west of Reni, less than a kilometre from the left bank of the Danube, and 500 m from the Danube bank, about 5 km south of Reni (2025-02-13)
On Thursday 13 February 2025, after an overnight Russian attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube, a team of specialists from MApN, SRI and the interior ministry examined two impact sites on Romanian territory: about 5 km west of Reni, less than a kilometre from the left bank of the Danube, and 500 m from the bank, about 5 km south of Reni. Both held fragments of Geran-1/2 drones, which the ministry says are used by the Russian Federation; both carried explosive charges that detonated on impact. Both sites lie outside inhabited areas and no infrastructure was affected. During the night of 12 to 13 February an RO-Alert warning went out for northern Tulcea County and MApN radars detected an object that briefly entered Romanian airspace. Samples were taken; no operator has been named.

The case was looked at and not settled, or the findings are disputed or have been rejected.
Ministerul Apărării Naționale (MApN) / 2025-02-13 / origin of the equipment
The defence ministry described the fragments as coming from Geran-1/2 drones used by the Russian Federation in attacks on Ukrainian Danube ports. That names the type and user of the equipment in the context of an attack on Ukraine, not a finding about who directed the aircraft that fell on Romanian territory.

Source discrepancy
Malcontent pins two points about 1 km apart (45.46, 28.23 and 45.45, 28.23), partly beyond the Prut. MApN describes two sites some 5-6 km apart, both on Romanian territory; the MApN description was adopted and the point represents both sites.
