On the morning of 4 October 2024 the Border Police informed the defence ministry of drone fragments found in the Litcov canal area of the Danube delta, about a kilometre from its junction with the Sfântu Gheorghe arm. A team of specialists from MApN, SRI and the interior ministry searched the site and collected the fragments, which the ministry described as coming from a drone of Russian origin, pending expert examination. The site lies outside any built-up area; no infrastructure was affected. The day of the find is recorded; the flight date and the operator have not been established.

Source discrepancy
Malcontent pins the find near Nufăru (45.12, 29.11) as an "estimated location". MApN gives the Litcov canal, about 1 km from its junction with the Sfântu Gheorghe arm; the point on the record represents that description and was not read from a source.
